Human activity recognition and physiological parameters monitoring systems

Keywords: Sensors, Body Area Network, e-Textile, Data Acquisition, Neural Networks, Activity Recognition.

Starting from the initial challenge of making an assistance robot for persons with disabilities, the purpose of this research is to develop a theoretical framework for human activity recognition and health monitoring, design and implementation of specific data acquisition systems using a minimum number of wearable motion sensors, and whose data are used to recognize human gestures and activities in an integrated supervised system with assistance robot.

The main objectives of the thesis are:

  • Design and implementation of data acquisition systems for activity recognition, using wearable acceleration sensors and inertial sensors.
  • Integrating sensors for health monitoring in data acquisition systems and correlate data from two types of sensors.
  • Integrating a system for health monitoring in complex intelligent assistance people system.
  • Design of a gesture recognition system using acceleration sensors.
  • Design of human activities a recognition system using different types of inertial sensors.
