Contributions to battery management systems
The development of battery storage systems is an emerging research field due to the continuous need for storying larger and larger amounts of energy thus improving the efficiency of renewable energy microgrids and increasing the autonomy of electric vehicles.
The thesis was meant to analyze and bring contributions regarding batteries and aspects related to them:
– Researching new technologies regarding the new chemical compounds used for battery development.
– Analysis and comparison of different battery types regarding their performance.
– Modeling battery behavior in order to analyze the charge/discharge characteristics of each battery.
– Analyze the optimum charging algorithm for several types of battery.
– Analyze newer methods for battery charging like wireless charging, USB charging, charging using renewable energy sources.
– Analyze existing methods for battery state of charge determination and designing newer methods.
– Analyze existing methods for battery cell equalization and designing newer methods.
