Contributions To The Maximum Power Point Tracking Methods In Photovoltaic Systems

The purpose of this work is the optimization of a photovoltaic system that will charge the most usual storage devices types existing on the market nowadays. In accordance to the need to maximize the energy output of PV systems, the project achieved several objectives:

  • The study and the enhancement of the existing mathematical models for solar cells.
  • The selection of a converter topology that allows efficient charging.
  • Critical analysis of the maximum power point tracking techniques.
  • Examine the applicability of the methods for MPPT in photovoltaic systems.
  • To develop MPPT algorithms, suitable for fast-changing environmental conditions.
  • Introduce modifications to the traditional MPPT algorithms to improve their efficiency.
  • The final objective of the project, together with the systematization and spreading of the results obtained, is the implementation and testing of the optimized algorithms and also a practical implementation of the proposed system.

The originality of the project consists in the structure of the PV system proposed and enhancements brought to the implemented algorithms.
